There are a number of schools within Collier County Public Schools that participate in raising funds for charity year after year.  Calusa Park Elementary School (CPE) is just one of those schools, and they are about to be honored for their philanthropic success.  The local chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) will be awarding the “Outstanding Philanthropic Youth Award” to CPE teacher Gigi Broccolo and her 2011-12 Kindergarten class at the National Philanthropy Day celebration on Tuesday (November 13) from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Arthrex Community Room (1370 Creekside Boulevard).

Mrs. Broccolo’s class was nominated for this AFP award by the Charity for Change – School “Giver” Program for their outstanding philanthropic efforts.  A few of the charities the class helped include Laces of Love, Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, Clearwater Marine Aquarium, and Songs of Love.

“We are very proud of Mrs. Broccolo and her class for the generosity they have shown and the enthusiasm in support of the Charity for Change initiative,” says CPE Principal Dr. Terrie Mitev.
