Collier County Public School District RSS News Feeds
Collier County Public School District News
What is RSS?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XML-based format for sharing and
distributing Web content, such as news headlines. Using an RSS reader, you can
view data feeds from various news sources, including Collier County Public School District news, whenever it is updated, even if you are not on our district website.
How can I access RSS?
There are several ways to access RSS feeds.
If you have Internet Explorer 7 or the most current Firefox browser, just click on the icon in your toolbar (the icon looks just like the orange icon shown at the top of this page).
If you have an older browser, you can install a news reader (also called an aggregator) that displays RSS feeds from the Web sites you select. Like an email program or a Web browser, the news reader serves as a kind of information portal, and provides a real-time interface to the feeds you select. Once the RSS reader is set up to access the Collier County Public School District RSS feeds, it will continually poll our RSS feeds for the latest headlines.
Where can I get a RSS Reader?
A number of free and commercial news readers are available for download. Google has a free reader you can use by creating a free account at http://google.com/reader. Other popular readers include RSS Bandit, Feed Demon and Bloglines. You should choose the reader that best suits your personal needs.
The Collier County Public School District does not endorse or recommend any particular reader. How do I add your feed to my RSS reader?
If you have Internet Explorer 7 or the most current Firefox browser, just click on the icon in your toolbar (the icon looks just like the orange icon shown at the top of this page).
If you're using a browser older than IE7 or the most current Firefox browser, place the mouse arrow over the RSS image or topic link at the top of this page and click the right mouse button, then choose "Copy Shortcut".
Start your RSS Reader and choose to add a feed. Then, paste the URL you copied into the location field. (These instructions are generalized...as RSS reader applications have different methods for adding RSS feeds).
